So yeah... Free the Baddies is a magazine now.
Because I am of the deep belief that it’s never too late to begin again. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself.
Hola mi amor, ¿cómo estás?
Pour your cafecito, I’ve been waiting for you, and I have news.
I know I’ve been MIA for a while (and I know you might be tired of hearing that), but I’m so excited to tell you that Free the Baddies is coming back bigger and better.
Starting today, Free the Baddies is becoming a magazine.
That means way more consistency, and it means you’ll be hearing from some amazing writers who are dedicated to your liberation, your expansion, and your growth.
Let me tell you how I got here.
I found myself in a place where I couldn’t carry the load of Free the Baddies all by myself. I was driving one day, and somewhere in that drive I came to the conclusion that I needed help.
I was feeling so much burnout, so much overwhelm from balancing all the responsibilities in my life, and I knew that if I wanted to keep this community thriving, if I wanted to give you the nurture and the nourishment you deserve, I needed to bring in some reinforcement.
I was tired of coming on here every month and apologizing to you for not being consistent because it takes a lot of time and effort to write something really good for you to consume and digest, and at the pace I was going, I didn’t want to sacrifice quality for timing.
I never wanted the message to be delayed just because it was taking everything in me to pour into every single article. Creating from a place of overwhelm is never healthy, and it’s not something I would ever encourage you to do. So why would I keep doing it to myself?
Once I decided to add contributors to the roster, turning this into a magazine became a natural decision.
Now, I need you to know something about this shift: my hand will be in every single article you read.
I work with each contributor on rounds and rounds (and rounds) of edits to make sure every piece resonates with you, and holds the same format you’re accustomed to. I know how powerful it is for it to feel like we’re speaking directly to you, and I want to protect the intimacy, the connection, and the bond we’ve built together.
But(!) I’m also acknowledging something with this expansion: I don’t hold all the truths.
I don’t hold all the stories. I don’t hold all the knowledge. I speak from my experience, and these contributors speak from theirs, and I want their experiences to teach you something.
It’s even challenged me.
Editing these pieces has pushed me to question my own worldviews, my own habits, my own beliefs.
All of us are navigating different environments, different relationships, different circumstances, and I want that to be evident in the way we build this magazine.
So when you open the first contributor letter two weeks from now, I want you to feel held. I want you to feel seen. I want you to feel understood, and I want you to have mirrors that go beyond what I can provide on my own.
It’s almost like the concept of “it takes a village.” I can’t care for all you baddies by myself. I need help. I need people who are going to understand you and who come in with different perspectives and different stories.
I am so grateful that you’ve resonated with everything I’ve had to teach so far. I’m grateful that my experiences have helped you create a different reality for yourselves, and now I can only imagine the possibilities when more writers, women navigating self-worth, renewal, rebirth, pleasure, money, sex, relationships, and more, come into this space. They’re going to put their hearts on the line just so you can grow.
And isn’t that a beautiful thing?
Here’s what this will look like:
Every two months, you’ll get an editor’s note from me introducing a new issue. In between, a new piece will land in your inbox every two weeks.
This first issue is Rebirth, focusing on renewal, starting again, and my personal favorite, taking advantage of the unlimited opportunities we have to start over.
I am of the deep belief that it’s never too late to begin again. It’s never too late to reinvent yourself, to become someone new, to choose a new path, a new career, literally whatever!
It’s okay to decide one day that you’re sick of all the shit you’ve been putting up with and that it’s time to begin a new life.
And we don’t have to wait for a new year to do that. Or a new week. Or even a new day.
There was a day I woke up and said, “I want things to be different,” and I decided to completely rearrange my life to fit the bigness, the expansion I wanted to bring into it. But all of it started with a decision.
So if you’re feeling stuck, if you’re feeling like you’ve expired the skin you’re living in, I want this issue to serve as permission. I want you to be inspired by the contributors here to choose a new life for yourself.
Sometimes we’re afraid to do that because it disrupts the people around us, so often we don’t base our decisions on ourselves at all. We base them on how we’ll be perceived, on how we’ll disrupt, on how people have come to understand who we are so far.
What I want to remind you of, consistently, is this: it matters that you’re living your life fully. It matters that you’re not shrinking yourself for anyone. It matters that you decide to do it for you, y para ti solamente.
Is that selfish? Could it come across that way? Maybe.
But what is life if not what we decide to do with it?
No one else follows us to the grave. Once we’re in that box, six feet under, it’s just us and our decisions. All we have left is what we chose to do with our freedom and our free will.
So I implore you: don’t let other people keep you making decisions that leave you feeling small or trapped.
I hope this issue is a gift to you. One that allows you to expand, knowing the risks, the pushback that might come with it, the challenges that might come with it.
And I hope the women in these pages show you that the risk is worth the reward. That the choice to uproot your life and choose a different path is so, so worthwhile.
Welcome to the magazine, mi amor. Welcome to our Rebirth.
I’m so glad you’re here.
Pa’lante.
Con cariño y mucho, mucho, mucho amor,
Coral ☕💋
